"Between the Frames: Fragment of Torso" is an extended painting series that originates from the torso images in classical sculpture. It translates these images through a process of fragmentation and reorganization, incorporating the visual language of anime, subculture, and digital imagery. The work treats the body as a state that can be disassembled and reconstructed, rather than a complete and unified form, further exploring how this "divisibility" not only exists within the image but also extends to the physical structure of the canvas itself.

This series uses the cutting and arrangement of irregular canvases to create a structure similar to comic panels and layered digital images. This allows the painting to transcend the limitations of a single viewpoint and fixed time-space, instead presenting a juxtaposition of multiple temporalities and spatialities. The image thus becomes a fluid system, not a closed representation.

In this context, the torso is no longer seen as a deficient body but as an open state, allowing for the generation of new perceptions and interpretations. The body fragments, dispersed across various canvases, form a liminal state between continuity and rupture. The gaps between the canvases both allude to the body's absence and become a site for viewing, guiding the viewer to actively participate in the reconstruction of the image through the movement and splicing of their gaze.

This structure corresponds to the "gutter" in comics and the multi-layered interface of digital images, allowing classical figural art to be re-perceived and repositioned within contemporary visual culture. "Between the Frames: Fragment of Torso" attempts to interweave classical sculptural language with the contemporary image environment at the material and structural levels of painting.
