"Depicting the contradictory beauty of the mutual domestication between humanity and nature"
@kw0neunsom
I depict a world where nature and humanity have mutually tamed each other. My work wanders the boundaries between reality and imagination, beauty and cruelty, life and consumption. Familiar objects and scenes—forests and flames, specimens and creatures, glass and ocean, wood and pencils—transform into surreal landscapes in the process of exchanging their essence. In my paintings, nature always presents two faces: on the one hand, it is an existence tamed and even destroyed by humans; on the other hand, it is a self-regulating, autonomous, and independent force with its own order and vitality. I attempt to directly confront this contradictory beauty and shake humanity's illusion of "possessing nature." Every scene is simultaneously a dream and an event—tranquil yet tense, warm yet unsettling. Within this fragile balance, I raise the question: have we tamed nature, or has nature tamed us?
