Collecting at an art fair for the first time: 6 tips
- Look first, ask, then decide: photograph the works you like together with the booth number and label, finish a full round, then come back to compare.
- Ask for prices: many booths do not display prices, and asking for a price list is completely normal.
- Original or print? For prints, ask about the edition size, signature and numbering; for originals, the medium, year and condition. Read original vs limited-edition print vs giclée.
- Documents: check whether a certificate of authenticity is included, and ask about framing, shipping and delivery times.
- Measure your wall before you go; see how to choose the right wall art size.
- Set a budget you are comfortable with. More first-timer answers in buying your first original artwork: 7 questions.
