POLLYANNA (Philippines)

Pollyanna Dee (stage name Pollyanna) is a female visual artist and illustrator from Manila, Philippines. A graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Arts with a major in visual communication design, she excels at blending traditional media with digital technology, developing a unique narrative style and a deeply emotional visual vocabulary.

Pollyanna's work primarily features abstract and surreal figurative portraits, capturing the complexity of emotions through charcoal, ink, and mixed media. She further incorporates digital techniques to create more diverse textures and color layers in her images. She views her creative process as a "visual diary," weaving together fragments of life, self-reflection, and inner feelings, emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance and spiritual healing.

In her view, vulnerability is not a weakness, but a symbol of courage and authenticity. Her works frequently feature symbols such as tears, distorted faces, and smoke obscuring the viewer's emotions, representing inner struggles and emotional release. For example, in the series *Daydream*, *Headspace*, *Breathe*, and *Rise*, she depicts layer by layer an emotional journey from loneliness to healing, from struggle to rebirth. Symbolic imagery such as flowers, the moon, dancers, and cracks further enriches the emotional depth of her work.

Pollyanna's art is deeply humanistic, using a delicate visual language to resonate with female strength and resilience. Through relatable portraits, she gently speaks of strength within vulnerability, offering viewers the possibility of confronting emotions and healing themselves.
