Taipei Art Gallery Guide

Most art galleries in Taipei are free to visit and cluster in six areas — Xinyi, the Dunhua Road area of the East District, Da’an, Neihu, Dazhi and Gongguan. Visit one area at a time and check opening hours and booking rules before you go. This guide covers where Taipei’s galleries are, how to visit, how collecting works, and how to visit Neverland Gallery.

What is an art gallery?

A gallery exhibits and represents artists: it curates shows, introduces artists and helps collectors acquire works. Unlike a museum, which focuses on its collection and education, gallery works are usually available to collect and exhibitions change often. Read more in What is an art gallery?

Where to find galleries in Taipei

  • Xinyi: around Taipei 101, Fubon Art Museum and Songshan Cultural Park. Neverland Gallery is near Yongchun Station and pairs well with Fubon Art Museum (galleries near Fubon Art Museum).
  • Dunhua Road, East District: from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to Dunhua North and South Roads — the densest gallery area, often upstairs or down side lanes.
  • Da’an, Neihu (Ruiguang Road), Dazhi and Treasure Hill: each with its own character, worth a dedicated trip.

Addresses, hours and MRT details for 16 galleries are in Taipei Art Galleries 2026 by Area; for walking routes see the Xinyi & East District gallery map and galleries near Yongchun and Taipei City Hall.

Visiting a gallery for the first time

  • Check opening hours online first — many galleries close on Mondays and some are by appointment.
  • Entry is usually free; take your time with the originals and feel free to ask staff about the works and artists.
  • Photo rules vary, so ask at the door.

Collecting art at a gallery

If a work speaks to you, ask the gallery about size, medium, edition and certificate; galleries also help with packing, delivery and hanging. See How to collect your first artwork at a gallery, and preview a work on your own wall with Art in Your Room.
