Joyrin (b. 1991) is a Korean artist who paints the stillness that follows a brilliant celebration — the moment first forgotten. Against dark backgrounds, cakes no longer signify sweetness but evidence of what has passed, and snuffed-out candles keep a trace of blue memory; works include A Wish for Your Happiness and Framed Within. The original artwork was shown at Neverland Gallery, a Taiwan art gallery in Xinyi, Taipei, in a group exhibition with Gallery Aile in Seoul.

"Gazing at the moment time stood still amidst the embers of the celebration"

I wanted to capture that stillness in my painting. It was the first moment forgotten after the splendid celebration. And this duality has always deeply fascinated me. Against the backdrop of darkness, the cake no longer symbolizes sweetness, but proof of what has vanished. The extinguished candles still retain a trace of blue memory, but that light is now tinged with coldness. In the instant the smoke stops rising, I see the edge of time. The cake in the painting carries the weight of what has already passed—warmth, laughter, and the silence they left behind. Between joy and emptiness, between beginning and end, between life and oblivion, my gaze lingers here—in that fragile crevice.
