About this work
Between bright yellow and pink walls and a sky-blue table, a yellow cream cake stands on a dark blue cake stand, crowned with white cream and deep red cherries. Thick paint droops and swells like icing, and a clear glass dome leaves only a faint outline. In heavily layered mixed media, Joyrin lets this seemingly teetering cake carry the silence that follows joy — longer and deeper than expected.
A Wish for Your Happiness 1 is an original work by Joyrin (2025), mixed media on wood board, 53 × 45 cm. Book a visit to see it in person at Neverland Gallery (Xinyi, Taipei).

A Wish for Your Happiness 1
The thick layer of cream appears precarious, as if it might collapse at any moment, and the faint candle atop the cake seems ready to flicker out. The joy of that moment is always fleeting, yet the silence that follows stretches longer and deeper than expected.
