About this work
The Ace of Swords is clarity and breakthrough — truth and a new idea cutting through. CASIMIR reinterprets the card with his intricate, ornate linework and female figures, weaving together plants, symbols and esoteric imagery.
Tarot meaning
Upright: clarity, breakthrough, truth
Reversed: confusion, misjudgement, clouded thinking
→ Tarot Minor Arcana meanings (Swords, Cups, Wands, Pentacles)
A single hand emerges from a dark cloud, gripping a long pale blade that rises the full height of the sheet. Near its tip the sword passes through a golden crown, from which green fronds and leafy branches hang. A circular sunburst glows behind the fist, purple veins and orange smoke streak the upper sky, and a sea of small coloured squares spreads below.
“Ace of Swords” is a limited-edition print from CASIMIR's Tarot of Drifting Life (塔羅浮生) series, 45.7 × 75.9 cm, edition of 100 (50 released). View it in person by appointment at Neverland Gallery, Xinyi, Taipei.
