About the Work
On a wooden veranda a woman lies on her side looking back as giant garden shears reach in to snip a red tie, while oddly shaped trees grow on the lawn outside — humorous metaphor breaking a taboo.
Artist’s Concept
Youth is a secret “private garden” where buds first open, full of intense curiosity and longing. Yet under social norms and the moral gaze, desire is often tied to “secrecy” and “shame”, so that exploring oneself comes mixed with unease and guilt.
Scissors is a 2026 original work by Pigo Lin — coloured ink on paper, 38.5 × 38 cm. On view from 21 November 2026 in the artist’s solo exhibition at Neverland Gallery (Xinyi, Taipei); visits by appointment.
