About this work
The Nine of Swords signifies anxiety and sleepless worry — fear is often larger than reality. CASIMIR reinterprets the card with his intricate, ornate linework and female figures, weaving together plants, symbols and esoteric imagery.
Tarot meaning
Upright: anxiety, sleepless nights, worry
Reversed: easing fear, reaching out for help
→ Tarot Minor Arcana meanings (Swords, Cups, Wands, Pentacles)
Folded into herself, she sits cross-legged and buries her face in her hands, while abstract crimson forms swirl around her head like wings. Nine dark swords fan out behind her in a radiating arc. Sunflowers crowd around her knees, and the remaining space is packed with circles and rings of orange, magenta, teal and gold.
“Nine of Swords” is a limited-edition print from CASIMIR's Tarot of Drifting Life (塔羅浮生) series, 45.7 × 75.9 cm, edition of 100 (50 released). View it in person by appointment at Neverland Gallery, Xinyi, Taipei.
