Edge-Flow: Rebirth and Transformation
Re-perceiving those gradually dissolving contours—the boundaries are quietly beginning to loosen.
Self and other, emotion and information, internal and external—everything intertwines and blurs, ultimately generating a brand new, indescribable landscape. Through the "face"—this motif that is both the most familiar and the most mysterious—I explore the "edges" of existence in flux. It is a dialogue with another self; even as its form gradually dissipates, it continues to emerge.
In recent years, my practice has entered a realm where "Edge" (the concrete form of the face) and "Flow" (a dynamic and abstract movement) converge. In contemporary society, aesthetic standards and values are diversifying at an accelerating pace. Once-clear boundaries—balance and imbalance, consciousness and unconsciousness, human and AI—are now blending, constantly updating into new forms. Through social media, the individual self is gradually dissolving into the other. AI is no longer merely a phantom in the mirror, but a "real existence" that permeates our lives and creativity. Even the line between the artificial and the non-artificial exists in an ambiguous gray gradient.
For as long as I can remember, I have been deeply drawn to the motif of the "face." The face is both a "sensory gateway" for receiving external information and an "expressive organ" for projecting internal thoughts. In the modern era, the face is no longer just a presentation of appearance, but a symbol of complex communication and the final fortress of self-definition. As the boundaries between "self" and "other," "internal" and "external" gradually dissolve, we still struggle to maintain the "contours" that constitute who we are.
I believe that contemporary reality exists within these "fluid boundaries" and "fading contours." I seek to capture the multi-layered perceptions that emerge at the moment form disintegrates and begins to flow—the very state of an ever-changing "edge." Through the window of the "face," I will continue to depict the landscape of "rebirth" contained within this chaotic era.
