Sibilant Chant of Sibilant
21 x 27 cm , 2026
Mineral pigments, metal leaf, mixed media on paper on wooden board
Sibilant refers to the hissing sound produced by friction of airflow, which is the closest human vocal sound to a spell.
Chanting is a ritual that imposes meaning onto an object. It does not require the object's consent, nor does it require the object to be awake.
These sounds fall upon her. She is neither the speaker nor the listener, but rather a surface upon which something is continuously inscribed.
She does not speak; she is spoken.
