About this work
In a dim space of deep brown and grey-violet, a dark-haired woman in an ornate garment with a white ruffled collar and purple-and-russet patterns looks back from the upper right. In the foreground, another figure in the same attire is seen from behind, faceless, as if a reflection in a mirror. The blurred mirror surface and layered textures leave the act of looking – and being looked at – without a clear direction.

Inspired by the restroom at night.
Some places are always damp, dim, with blurred mirrors and the mingled scents of others. She is dressed in lace and layers—an ensemble that presupposes a reason to be seen.
But in this space, looking loses its direction. The mirror offers no clear position; the gaze becomes hesitant and stagnant.
Her attire prepares her to be seen, yet the space causes the act of looking to stall. She exists within both structures simultaneously, maintaining a distance that refuses to be absorbed.
